The Tangier Foundation for Photography
The first private venue dedicated to promoting contemporary photography in Morocco, the foundation was created in 2018 by Françoise and Daniel Aron.
Two exhibition rooms, a film (silver-halide) darkroom and a library of graphic-arts books host the creation of two collections: one on contemporary photography, the other on historic photography (19th–20th century).
Its official opening supported the work of young Moroccan photographers with the exhibition “Nouvelles Écritures” (“New Writings”), shown in part at the Les Insolites bookshop.
To write is to take a risk. The seven photographers in this exhibition set out on a more or less perilous path of expression: to inform, reveal, denounce, invent, recount…
Based in Morocco or abroad, they photographed their country — at the edge of, or beyond, its borders — with a fresh eye.
