The high-speed line is a choice in step with Morocco’s major strategic orientations in terms of high-performance infrastructure and transport systems. The National Railway Office (ONCF) launched an international call for tenders to develop and upgrade some of the country’s stations in order to accommodate high-speed trains. The Tangier–Casablanca line, serving Kénitra and Rabat Agdal, is a first strategic step for the project as a whole. Delivery of the high-speed (LGV) stations for these cities is scheduled for 2018.

Despite the significant financial stakes posed by the infrastructure tied to delivering the LGV project’s master plan, it goes without saying that it is set to bring about a profound shift in territorial organisation and to contribute, remarkably, to the economic and social development to which our country aspires.

The Tangier–Casablanca LGV project is the first stage of the master plan established in 2006, which provides for the construction of 1,500 km of new lines, including the “Atlantic” axis Tangier–Casablanca–Marrakech–Agadir and the “Maghreb” axis Rabat–Fez–Oujda.
